the backrol is an invert you can try 1000 times without really killing yourself, you can do them without needing a lot of height (ask Remko as he alsways does this ;-)

the raley is an invert you can only do at 100% so you need some balls and must be ready for some crashes (ask Barry as he always does this ;-)

good luck!

If you have no fear, start with the raley. Even if you don't get enough air, you can always turn your body so you land on your back. However, if you land toeside edge under the water, you will risk some damage hehe

Backroll is a bit easier I think. But crashes will still hurt sometimes.

I recommend to start off with a switch toeside double s-bend to blind as you first invert. If you land that one, you will do a raley and backroll in no-time!

Yo man.

I would say do a raley first. This is the more "man" way to go. It might take you longer to land your first invert (raley) but after that back rolls are sooo easy to learn like your third try and you will have it. If you do a roll first raley's are still tough.

You have to fall sum day trying it... Why not fall now ?

(Im lucky and landed it first time)

I must say I do agree with you man. Also there is this phase that you can do both and move on to doing front flips and s-bends.

Now I did learn a front-flip first. After doing a front, front to fakie and front with tail grab 3000 times, I am having difficulties with doing a s-bend. I can't get it better than a sort of fresh-bend (not completely stretched while in the air).

What do you recommend? Front first or s-bend first?

Thumbs up

Doesn't make any difference if you ask me...grow some balls and go for the s-bend!

Dude, I learnt s-bend bout month ago and doing s-blind now. lots of my friends learnt front first and now struggle big time to get a proper s-bend. so s-bend first would be the better way to go. it is kak scary but better in long run!

peace.
